Bighorn River

The Big Horn River is one of the best tail-waters in the world and is a blue ribbon trout stream. The head-watersstart below Yellowtail Dam in Fort Smith, Mt.. The first 13 miles are the most well known and most fished, with 6,ooo trout per mile. The trout in the upper section average 16-18 inches with a chance of a two foot trout at every cast. With a great mix between rainbows and browns threw out the Big Horn River. The outfitters I use like the first 30 miles of the river. The Big Horn is truely a fly fishermans paradise with an abundance of nice and long trout runs. The best fishing starts in early Mach and continues to fish great threw out the season all the way until November. There are alot of options when coming to the Big Horn area for my clients. Whether you are a five star kind of guy or just want to rent out a cabin and hire a guide for the day. The prices very on what you are looking for and the package you want. Also available, is a cast and blast trip for pheasants or ducks and geese. These trips start at the end of September and are very popular with my clients. If you have never been to the Big Horn River it is a must see place on the Montana map.
