Missouri River

The Missouri River is one of Montana’s top tail waters. The best fishing starts below Holter dam near the town of Craig, MT.

The Missouri is one of the best dry fly fisheries in the state, hands down. With a lot of bugs hatching throughout the year, like caddis, PMD’s, Baetis, midges, tricos and of course, terrestrials, the Missouri holds about 4,000 fish per mile with fish averaging 15-18 inches. Also there are a lot of fish from 19-25 inch range.

The season kicks off at the beginning of March and continues to fish great all the way up into early November. There is a lot of options to stay in this area, I have a lot of friends of mine and have cabins for rent and also have some great lodges on the banks of the Missouri. The Missouri River trips books fast, so please contact me early. Once you have visited the Missouri, I can almost promise you that you will return.
